We've spent the last four days in Cincinnati, and I must say, it has been a much needed rest. For the first two weeks of the trip, we have been traveling from city to city at an incredibly fast pace and haven't stayed in one place for more than two days. We've been to nine games already, almost a third of the way done with games, but it's only two weeks into a ten week trip.
Here's a quick update on how I've been spending my time in Cincinnati...
Saturday: Seth's bachelor party
Sunday: Billy took Berk, Trox, and me out on the Ohio River in his family's boat (which needs a name by the way...may I suggest The Stugots III???). Saw "The Hangover" at the movie theatre. It lived up to the hype.
Monday: Went to Kings Island with Katie Solomon. Loved it. I will never get sick of or bored by roller coasters. My two favorites - Diamondback and The Beast.
Tuesday:
I hung out at the Phelan household all day, catching up on emails, uploading pictures, and relaxing. Mama Pavia came down to Cinci to go to the Reds game with us. The pre-game festivities were fantastic. The actual game sucked (Thanks for at least getting a hit Reds. You're all most as embarrassing as the Tribe). Thanks to everyone who came out to the In Between Tavern to have a few drinks before the game and to everyone for coming to the game and supporting us! Without question, being on the field before the game was the most memorable part of Cincinnati. Sam and I walked the game ball out to the mound right before the first pitch. It probably ended up as a home run ball thanks to Bronson Arroyo. It was surreal to be on the field, and surprisingly, the stadium doesn't seem that big from field level. The field itself feels just like any other baseball field I've been on, only a hell of a lot nicer. Also memorable was the fact that we couldn't get off the field without Gapper, the Reds' creepy mascot, trying to feel up Sam.
We're off to Hot-lanta tonight and will be staying with a fellow Bobcat, Jeremy, for a few nights. Definitely looking forward to it!
Trip favorites so far:
Game: Indians 5 Pirates 4 - in Pittsburgh
Stadium: Oriole Park at Camden Yards
Fans: Orioles fans (in case anyone cares, Red Sox fans are my least favorite)
Bar: The Hop House (Pittsburgh)...but only because they have karaoke on Tuesday nights
City: NYC
Meal (eating out): Happy Hour sushi at Wok and Roll (DC)
Meal (eating in): Family dinner at the Phelan household - steaks, twice-baked potatoes, corn on the cobb, steamed mushrooms, asparagus, it goes on and on...
Site: Philadelpia Museum of Art (Rocky steps)
Public Trans: NYC subways
Beer: Yuengling...NO CONTEST
Host: Are you kidding? Everyone has been amazing!
Talk to you all soon. Thanks again everyone in Cincinnati. I'm SO glad I was able to see you all!
Seth and Danielle: Good luck on Saturday. I'm SO sorry I cannot make it, but I wish you all the happiness in the world. And HAVE FUN.
Peace,
Matt
